The University of California at San Francisco, recently completed a study on 9,000 women. In the study, it was shown that those women who had a chronically acidic body condition called acidosis were at greater risk for bone loss and the resulting fractures than those with more neutral body pH. Apparently, the prevalence of hip fractures among middle aged women is connected to high body acidity where the women eat a diet high in animal proteins and sugars and low in green vegetables. The body’s natural mechanism to reduce body acidity is to borrow calcium from the bones in order to balance the pH.
pH is a measure of how acid or alkaline your body terrain is. The blood should be around 7,365, the saliva should be around 7.4 and the urine should be around 6.9. You can get urine and saliva test strips from a health food store which allow you to test your pH. You should test your pH one hour before a meal and two hours after. Testing the urine is usually the most reliable indicator of body pH.
The diet should be rich in foods that provide a good mineral intake of at least 750 mg of dietary calcium plus 300 mg of dietary magnesium daily. The magnesium helps the calcium dissolve and stay in solution so that it is readily usable by the body. Taking too much, or an imbalance of these two minerals can make it difficult to get it dissolved and absorbed into the body before it causes constipation.
Planning how to take your minerals makes good sense. Calcium dissolves and absorbs better with acids like lemon, vitamin C containing foods, apple cider vinegar and so on. For example, you can eat canned salmon with the bones, in a green, leafy salad with lemon juice and avocado oil dressing. There are also many other food combinations that will work as well. For magnesium, trans-dermal magnesium works the best. Spray it on your skin and rub it in, or pour some in a shallow bath and soak in it. With this type of dietary supplementation, your morning urinary pH should start to rise above 6.0.
Eating a greener diet will also help to raise the body pH. Leafy greens and veggies grown above ground can gradually be increased and animal protein reduced so that the pH starts to come more into balance. pH regulation is important not only for bone health but for reduction of cancer and diabetic risk. Acidic body pH also turbo ages the body and creates lots of inflammation so pain and stiffness can result.
Women have a higher risk of bone loss and resulting fractures. There are a number of factors, one of which is believed to be hormonal. By regulating the diet to more alkaline foods, the body will self-regulate the pH and will begin to replace what mineral has been lost. Pretty soon, you will not even realize you had a bone density problem.
You can boost your body pH by drinking alkaline, ionized water, along with eating your healthier diet. By adding this special type of water to your diet you can see shifts in your body pH within a week. You may also notice that you start to feel more energetic and your body wants healthier food. A more neutral body pH will also reduce your risk of further bone loss and protect you from future fractures. As you get older, it is so much more fun when you can still go dancing, walking or hiking without the risk of breaking something. Your future is worth it.
Jean Perrins is a retired nurse and an alkaline, ionized water specialist. She has been field testing the effects of structured water on health in her clinic with sometimes astounding results. It is clear that water has an affect on health that we, in the West are just beginning to understand.Jean is currently working with a team to develop microbicidal and Free Active Chlorine applications to revolutionize industrial and agricultural methods using Invins-AbleTM electrochemically activated water. She and her team believe that Invins-AbleTM will help eliminate antibiotic and hormone use in food animals and will allow cleaning and chemical services to do more and more processes with this structured water. The economic and environmental savings are astounding.
