If this condition is not treated, it can further lead to a life threatening condition known as Eclampsia. The latter usually manifests with convulsion, drowsiness and sometimes coma during pregnancy. Eclampsia is an onsteric emergency and plays a major role in contributing to maternal death. The good news here is that it could be prevented with adequate control of the blood pressure during pregnancy. This is why pregnant women should guide against the primary causes of hypertension while pregnant.
