High blood pressure remedies can be used by anyone who has a need to control blood pressure. However, there is no such thing as an overnight cure for hypertension. Reducing blood pressure usually takes a concerted effort over a period of time. This concerted effort will often involve a lifestyle change.
The problem is there is no blood pressure lowering remedy that uses magic of any kind. There are natural means that can be very helpful. However, it is usually the use of several things working together, as opposed to one thing alone, which will eventually improve one’s health.
Oh No! Not Daily Meds!
One of the possible remedies that will be included in a regiment to control hypertension is prescribed medication. Though many people are squeamish about the use of such so-called drugs, modern blood pressure medication is nothing one needs to fear. Perhaps, there was a time unwanted side effects were caused by such medications but those days are gone. Today, the doctor has a wide variety of medications he/she can prescribe. So, it is in all but the most unusual cases a medication is found which is satisfactory for the patient‘s needs.
Along with a low sodium, healthy diet and perhaps medication, a doctor may prescribe, a patient who is in need of lowering his/her blood pressure may be able to use other techniques to lower blood pressure. Such a technique could be the use of relaxation.
Relaxing for Improved Health
It is well known there is a correlation between anxiety and health in general. Therefore, using relaxation as a means to win the battle over anxiety is viable and it has been known to result in better physical health as well. Relaxation techniques normally involve relaxing in a comfortable chair, couch or bed and progressively relaxing one’s body.
This can be done by closing the eyes and breathing in to the count of five, holding the breath to the count of five and then breathing out to the count of 10. After the patient has done this 4 to 5 times, he/she then turns the attention to the physical parts of the body. Then the patient instructs each body part to relax starting at the feet and progressing all the way up to the head.
This concentration on each body part not only draws attention away from those things which may be causing nervousness, bought by instructing the body parts to relax the patient will usually find he/she will enter into a state of total relaxation.
At this point, the patient should resume deep breathing another 4 to 5 times and then turn their attention to positive and pleasant thoughts. This is an oversimplified explanation of how progressive relaxation works. Still, whether it is being used as a high blood pressure remedy or simply a way to overcome anxiety, this technique can be extremely helpful.
However, no one should ever take on the task of controlling his/her blood pressure all alone. This must be done under the care of medical supervision.
