Did you know a high blood pressure diet tailored specifically for HBP pressure can and will lower your hypertension? Wow, what a concept. So many people out there just don’t realize that a simple change in their eating habits will solve this common disease.
Many go to the doctor, get a check-up, (one of the most important vital signs is the taking of your blood pressure, in case you didn’t know), find out they have HBP, and simply wait to get a prescription right there on the spot to hopefully reduce their HBP by taking drugs.
It may work, or it may not. It all depends if you follow your doctors advice, which many people will not. What would he tell you to do? Exercise, eat healthy, and take your pills. The meds only control the problem, they don’t cure it. You, on the other hand have to take charge and take action to get rid of the HBP yourself. You most likely have put yourself in this position by lifestyle choices you made in the past. Now, it time to change them again.
The fist thing you must do is change your diet. A high blood pressure diet is a diet specifically tailored to people who have high blood pressure. Its main goal is to reduce,or eliminate, sodium (salt) in the diet and increase potassium, calcium, and magnesium. So the next thing to do is to start on a high blood pressure diet. And this diet is? Drum roll please, The DASH diet, or the Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension.
Now your wondering, where do I start? What foods lower high blood pressure? That, my friend, is a good question. Simple answer, there all at your local grocery store. The most important foods for lowering high blood pressure are fruits and vegetables, fish, poultry, and many others. This would be a long article if I listed everything here.
As I side note, I speak from personal experience because my wife HAD high blood pressure, or should I say Stage 1 hypertension. Now, after 13 months of lifestyle changes and recommendations from her doctor, she is at normal levels now. It does still fluctuate at times, but I would rather see a small fluctuation 4 or 5 times a month than continuously at stage 1 hypertension levels. And she never needed any medication for it. Fortunately, her doctor wanted her to make changes to her diet and lifestyle before trying medications. And it worked too!!
I can say from personal experience that taking control of your life and start making healthier choices to rid this ever growing “silent killer” to our lives. We will all live a longer, healthier life to enjoy with family and friends.
