This is the third surprising thing that can make you leaner and get you pointed in the right direction.
TIP # 3 — Stay Hungry to live longer
There is an interesting study that 37-year-old scientist Johannes Bauer, Ph.D. New to the biology department at SMU carried out how calorie restriction affects the life longevity of the flies.
The results of the study where surprising but clearly indicate that eating less is better.
Bauer feed his flies every other day with a mixture of sugar and yeast. He’s found that when the Drosophila Melanogaster fruit fly consumed 30 to 50 percent fewer calories a day they lived 10 to 40 percent longer than their natural lifespan and this the equivalent in humans of living 120 years or more.
Bauer said that flies fed less were more alert, more active but they were not as fertile.
Although semi-starvation doesn’t sound like a party, but calorie restriction (scientific term for under-nutrition) is now being taught as the latest fountain-of-youth secret for prolonging the human life span and extending the “health span”.
Furthermore, many scientist engaged in calorie restriction studies on lab animals, are quite certain that they’ve identified an effective way to stave off many ailments such as diabetes, arthritis, cancers, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and others.
Some of the researchers go even beyond this exciting discovery and suggest a staying hungry and living lean, as the only effective and scientifically known mechanism even to slow down the aging process.
. . .And, it often helps prevent age-related illnesses too. . .
Many other color restriction approaches such as raw foodism and veganism, are telling similar stories about how affective they are for weight loss and how people who follow these approaches begin to look younger than age.
Furthermore, many medical conditions such as chronic headaches, arthritis pain and sleep disorders gone away without taking a medication. After going with fewer calories for only a short time many of them felt themselves more physically stronger and started to feel much happier, and even more spiritually aware as if a brain fog has lifted. It turns out that calorie restriction helped to awake the creativity while others felt restful and calmer than ever.
Apparently there is a scientific explanation for all of this.
Bauer said that “Restricting calories just a little bit puts your body in a state of stress, which makes you a little bit healthier”.
It seems like even a slight reduce of caloric intake, even by as little as 10 percent a day, forces the body’s cells low level of stress that in turn is strengthening them when high stresses occur.
The moderate stress just like the one caused by simple exercise helps improve the health and eating less calories seems to force the body for more efficient metabolic processes that puts the brakes on aging.
Just to sum up all said above: “It takes a special person to be hungry… and an even greater one to stay that way”.
If you want to stay healthier and prolong your life span, stay hungry in two ways: In how you workout and literally… stay a bit hungry before you go to bed. Not “starving”… just a bit hungry.
How to stay hungry at night?
Do consult your doctor about taking 500mg of potassium and 1000mg of magnesium/calcium a few hours prior to bed as this can help you with the hunger pangs.
